In Amsterdam, 27% of those who menstruate face period poverty, which means they lack regular access to necessary period products for healthy menstruation. We address this issue head-on by offering free period products through our Menstruation Stations spread throughout the city. These Stations require regular maintenance, including restocking, to ensure they are fully equipped to help those in need. Our initiative not only combats period poverty but also promotes participation and emancipation, providing an enlightening opportunity for volunteers to contribute meaningfully while exploring Amsterdam.

We want to develop customizable partnerships to address your specific preferences and priorities while offering flexibility. For instance, you can:

contribute through in-kind donations, volunteer support, or fundraising initiatives
increase your impact through financial support that is coupled with access to professional skills training, or marketing resources for cause-related marketing initiatives.

In general, we prefer longer engagements because of the efforts we make to onboard volunteers (we are a small team). We welcome skill-based volunteers and are happy to discuss how they can help our cause.

For more hands-on tasks, volunteering can look like having people working together once to twice a month, for around 3 hours each time. People could work in pairs and each pair should include someone with a driving license & a car. In doing so, volunteers can learn about a local issue, give back directly to the community in which they live, and feel more connected to what they do.

Beyond volunteering, people can also help raise funds within their networks or engage the company or friends in donation matching (we are vetted by Benevity to make this easier).

But if you are looking for a one-time engagement, we can organize a volunteer day or half-day:

- We usually start with a short introduction on period poverty and the work we do at Neighborhood Feminists.

- You can help assemble the Menstruation Station cabinets, sort products and prepare bags for deliveries at our storage in Diemen.

- If you have bikes or cars, volunteers can help with deliveries & refilling the Menstruation Stations.
