★ In short:
As a ThuisOnderwijsMaatje (TOMaatje) you will be linked to a child from a newcomer family. You will support 1 to 2 hours (or more) weekly with schoolwork, Dutch language and subjects that are challenging. Support is done online.
★ Job description:

- You meet weekly via Zoom, Skype or other medium in consultation.
- You help with homework, Dutch, math, difficult subjects, planning and more.
- Sometimes you are also a buddy or a mentor or a question box.
★ What will you be offered?
- As a TOMATO you get the chance to make an impact in the life of a child.
- We invite you to our LinkedIn community of 200 colleague TOMatjes where tips, knowledge and experience are shared.

This is of great importance for their school career, as their parents are also integrating and are not (yet) able to support their child. As a volunteer you can sometimes also guide the parents in the Dutch education system. You get a glimpse into the life of a newcomer family.

★ Testimonials
Esther: "I have been guiding Maryam for a few months now. We meet every week and read an exciting book together. Sometimes we chat and it is pleasant, she likes this very much. Her father recently messaged that he was proud because she was one of came out on top in the class at reading. How fun!"
Jasper: "Reem is very eager to learn! She had trouble with math. I found out that she could do math well, but that she did not always understand the narrative assignments and texts of the sum. Teacher advised to practice vocabulary and this was exactly what she needed. Her cito scores went up."
Wim: "Tasnem has not been living in the Netherlands for very long. She didn't know what it was to send a card. Then I sent her a card and she was really happy. Since then we have been writing cards to each other. She practices with the vocabulary, spelling, she buys and pastes stamps, very enthusiastic!"
