We are Oma’s Soep, a fast growing social enterprise. It is our mission to fight loneliness amongst the elderly throughout the Netherlands and in the future, far beyond. 

How we can use your help 

• Spend your team building day visiting elderly in your neighborhood and help us fight loneliness 

Kicking your team day off with treats from grandma, followed by a short workshop about loneliness where you’ll learn how you can contribute even in the most small ways. After our warm welcome it’s time for your team to visit our elderly. After receiving their packages full of soup, the contact details of the elderly and a small present, it’s up to you to visit our elderly at home! Our elderly are most grateful for these visits. For some of them you’ll be one of the few who pays them a visit. This doesn’t mean they are not exciting to spend time with! Quite the opposite, nothing beats sharing a soup, going for a walk or grabbing a coffee with one of our elderly. We end the day with a fun borrel and this all will be organized at a stunning location! 

This team building activity will boost the spirits of your team as well as your social commitment. It’s an easy way to make a hue impact as an organization! A fun day guaranteed!

How it all started 

On Christmas Eve 2016 grandma “Grootje” made her well-known broth soup. While busy cooking the soup together with the whole family, Grootje told her grandson Max - the founder of Oma’s Soep - that she felt quite lonely lately and that she would love to get together and make soup together more often.

This is how it all started. Together with childhood friend and medicine student Robert, who also noticed many elderly feeling lonely around him - they cooked up a masterplan to match students from all over NL to elderly in their neighborhood. Oma’s Soep was born. 

The first cooking day took place in 2016 in community centre De Keyzer in the east of Amsterdam. Friends and family all came to help, vegetables that otherwise would go to waste were collected from local farmers and together with the elderly the most delicious soups were prepared. Everyone was thrilled and this was just the beginning.

What is it that we do 

We sell our products in retail like Albert Heijn, catering, food service, hotels but also in office buildings and at big events, etc. With the proceeds of our products sold, we bring the young and elderly together. We do this by organizing fun cooking days, by bringing soups to the elderly and by organizing team building days for company’s where we either organize a cooking day/bring soups to the elderly. We also organise fun events, like the Oma’s Soep gala that we last organised for 250 elderly and students. At this moment we are active in 9 different cities where we visit roughly 80-150 elderly per city per week. In total we pay visits to roughly a thousand elderly every week! It is our mission to fight loneliness amongst all elderly throughout the whole of the Netherlands.
