SummaryThe Coffee House and Clothing Store on the Haarlemmerstraat offers a safe place to homeless or undocumented visitors
The Koffiehuis and the Clothing Shop on the Haarlemmerstraat offers a safe place to homeless or undocumented visitors who often cannot go elsewhere in the city. Because the foundation is a social enterprise, in addition to coffee, lunch and clean clothing, there are also work projects that visitors can participate in. The sweeping and greening teams work on the street and ensure a clean and colorful environment. In this way, local residents and tourists see that homeless people are more than the prejudice often claims. The Clothing Store offers free clothing to the participants of the work projects and the income from the clothing sold also benefits the participants.
Every day , 30 people work from the Koffiehuis to keep the streets in the center clean and green. They drink a cup of coffee in the Koffiehuis around 9.30 am and then go to work. The team of volunteers (4-5 people) chooses a recipe, does the shopping and prepares a hot lunch. We would like to offer a lunch that is not only healthy and fills the stomach; it also just has to be tasty. The kitchen is well equipped and everything is there to cook for a large group. The teams return from work between 12.30 and 1.30 pm and then their food, drinks, fruit and any extras are served. Finally, everything is cleaned up and cleaned.
