As a home mentor, you regularly meet with a student (9-14 years old) from the neighborhood. This can be done at the student's home, in a public place or online.
Together you will work on the student's academic skills, independence and self-confidence. In addition to schoolwork, it is also about personal attention for the child and fun together. The children of School's cool often come from difficult home situations and need a person to whom they can tell their story. As a home mentor you are a role model and you see your student grow.
School's Cool Amsterdam offers guidance to students whose parents cannot afford this themselves. In this way, School's cool Amsterdam increases equality of opportunity in education.
In addition to mentorship, we also organize fun outings for the children, such as the Girls' House or a DJ course, so that they have more social contacts. We also organize all kinds of activities for mentors, such as concerts or delicious lunches.
Anyone can be a home mentor. School's cool Amsterdam guides the mentors, if desired, through intervisions, training and workshops. It is also possible to spend your volunteer hours with us!

The foundation links a student (9-14) to a home mentor. Together they will work for an hour a week on the school skills, independence and self-confidence of the student.
School's cool Amsterdam has proven successful. For 25 years, the foundation has been supporting children throughout the Netherlands who are at risk of dropping out as a result of difficult home situations or learning arrears. Thanks to the personal mentor, these children achieve better learning results and school advice that suits them. We are looking for volunteers to help more children.
In addition, School's cool offers all kinds of activities for the students and training and workshops for the mentors. Thanks to your support in the form of gifts or knowledge, we want to offer more for these children and mentors.
