We are looking for people who want to rent out a room to young people who are ready to live on their own, but who still need an intermediate step.Detailed description
We are looking for people who want to rent out a room to young people between the ages of 18 and 23, who are ready to live on their own, but still need an intermediate step. A room with attention!
When you're just standing on your own two feet, you often need help from family and friends. But what if that social safety net isn't there and you don't have a trusted place to return to?
The Rooms with Attention Foundation is a non-profit organization with the aim of helping vulnerable young people on their way to independence. That is why we are looking for people who want to rent out a room to young people between 18 and 23 years old, who are ready to live on their own, but still need an intermediate step. A room with attention!
You see and help a young person develop on his or her way to independence. You function (not as a care provider or foster parent, but) as a roommate, a listening ear or a helping hand.
Rooms with Attention make a careful match between landlord and young person. The landlord himself determines how much attention he wants to offer and, together with the young person and supervisor, discusses how this is done.
Maybe you like it when a young person joins you for dinner now and then? Would you like to exercise together? Or would you rather help with the administration?
It doesn't matter how old you are or how often you are home. Any living space - with families or singles, in student houses, guest houses or living groups - can become a Room with Attention. If you rent yourself, you can get permission to participate without losing your housing allowance. For stability, we ask that you rent out the room for at least one year (maximum five years).
The landlord himself determines how much attention he wants to offer and, together with the young person and supervisor, discusses how this is done.
In addition to the monthly rent and conviviality, some young people are willing to do something in return, such as doing a job in or around the house, walking the dog or running an errand.
For more information about registering as a landlord, an online information meeting can be attended. An intake will take place after registration as a landlord. After approval, the careful match between landlord and young person and introduction follows. If it clicks, agreements and rental contract are made.
The coordinator of Rooms with Attention remains involved throughout the rental period and is available for questions and guidance from the landlord.

About Kamers met Aandacht
When you've only just become self-reliant, you still need help from family and friends. But what if you cannot access that social safety net and you don't have a trusted place to return to? The Rooms with Attention Foundation is a non-profit organization with the aim of helping vulnerable young people on their way to independence. That is why we are looking for people who want to rent out a room to young people aged 18-23 years. They are ready to live on their own, but still need extra help, they need your room and your attention!
The foundation makes a well-considered match between a host and a young person. The host has the flexibility to choose how much attention he/she wants to offer. The coordinator will ensure that both parties are appropriately safeguarded.
Maybe you'd like that a young person joins you for dinner now and then? Or exercise together? You may want to help with the administration? Some youths are willing to return the favour by doing various chores.
It doesn't matter how old you are. Any living space - with families or singles, student houses, guest houses or living groups - can become a Room with Attention. If you rent yourself, you can get permission to participate in this project without losing your housing allowance.
